DIY Thursday Welcomes:

I'm thrilled to share my Save the Date cards with you. They're fairly simple to create
if you have all the right tools. I've listed some of my favorite tools for the job:
2 pieces of Circle Cardstock
Square envelopes
1 inch photo
1 brad
White Glue
Ink Pad
Rubber Stamp
Exacto Knife
Paper Awl

Use a rubber stamps to personalize one of the paper circles. You can use stamps like the orchid and the save the date. The orchid rubber stamps are great because they match the rest of the Tamarindo wedding stationery, and then the stamp can be used for favors, guest bags, etc. After your decorating is done, cut out a square window (or use a square scrapbooking punch for the job). I also used a round punch to take a small bite out, so it would be easier to spin the back circle.

With the paper awl, punch through both circles and insert your brad. Using your cut out window as a guide, lightly pencil in where you'll add your picture and text. Undo the brad and set aside the top circle. Add your message in parts. Mine said “Melissa and Chad”… “are getting married”… “June 8th”… “Camarillo, CA” and glue in your picture. Reattach the pieces and you have it! A very fun save the date card.
For a bit of extra charm, you can also stamp

Thank you so much to Melissa for guest blogging with us today! She is very talented and her invitations are simply fabulous! We hope to hear more DIY from her in the future!! Please check out her website as she is truly amazing! Also check out her blog too!!!
Thank you Melissa!!!

Venue Highlighted

Our venue this week is the Harvest Inn. Located in St. Helena right off of Highway 29 in the heart of wine country. The Harvest Inn is such a beautiful setting. The gardens and landscaping are magnificent. The Harvest Inn backs up to the vineyards so there are spectacular views of the vineyards and mountain range.
The rooms are very warm and cozy and a nice size. We especially love the fireplaces because it can get a little chilly in the evening in wine country so it is always nice to have the fireplace. The rooms with the decks overlooking the vineyard are stunning so make sure you reserve one of those rooms if you come to the Harvest Inn.
If you are looking for a venue for your wedding this is the perfect spot. The Vineyard Terrace is a gorgeous location for your ceremony with the breath taking views of the vineyard. Escape over to the manor lawn for cocktails and hors d'oeuvers while the catering team transforms the vineyard terrace into a gorgeous reception. The Vineyard Room is the perfect room for dancing and lounging. The magnificent fireplace filled with candles really creates and ambiance like no other. The Harvest Inn does a fabulous job and Liz Larroque their wedding manager is fabulous to work with. We just love working at The Harvest Inn and think it is a great spot for your wine country wedding.

Pom Poms can add a little touch to any wedding or event. The above weddings took place in two different places but both brides chose to add a little flare to their wedding with the DIY Pom Poms. We found the how to at Martha Stewart to share with all of our readers! If you have made these before leave us a comment or send us a photo at ido@asavvyevent.com

How to Make the Pom-Poms-From MarthaStewart.com

You'll need tissue paper and 24-gauge white cloth-covered floral wire.

Hanging Pom-Poms
1. Stack eight 20-by-30-inch sheets of tissue. Make 1 1/2-inch wide accordion folds, creasing with each fold.

Chart Your Course With a Wedding Map

A Savvy Event is so excited to introduce you to our Guest Blogger Laura Hooper! We are so excited that she is blogging today! Her work is amazing! So without further adieu ......we welcome Laura Hooper to aSe Blog........

Hi everyone, my name is Laura Hooper and I own Laura Hooper Calligraphy and run the Lucky Orchid Wedding blog . Thank you so much to the lovely girls of A Savvy Event for allowing me to guest blog today about utilizing maps for your event!

These adorable maps make great keepsakes for your family and friends, as well as serve the function of pointing out the places and locations you deem worthwhile for them to visit or be aware of during their stay at your event. Adding an itinerary to the back side clearly lays out what the schedule of events is like for the wedding, whether there is a Welcome Dinner, Wine Tasting, Rehearsal Dinner, pre-Wedding Cocktails, Reception, After Party, or Goodbye Brunch (etc, etc, etc) your guests are going to need to know when to be there and where to show up. This is also a great place to tell them minor details, like what to wear, to all these fabulous nuptial activities.

One of the easiest ways to incorporate your map is in the welcome basket. When you are working on your welcome baskets, no matter where your wedding is, you are going to want to include some sort of itinerary of fun-filled events to pre-occupy your guests who are coming into town for the wedding. It's possible that you are having a destination wedding and this makes it even more pertinent to give your guests ideas for activities while you and your husband-to-be and both your families obsess over the details in the days leading up to your wedding.

Maps with itineraries are frequently inserted into the wedding invitation itself, or sent out to the guests in the weeks leading up to the wedding, after the RSVPs come in. We are also getting a huge response to the Map Save the Date cards which come in different options to suit different budgets.

There are so many great uses for the maps , and they can be created according to the style of the clients' preference. The maps we create are completely custom, meaning, I do not have a map on hand for every city in the US, only the cities and venues other clients have commissioned maps for. Once you turn in your order your map is created just for you. I work with brides all over the country, by Internet and phone, to collaborate with them on the creation of a fabulous wedding keepsake.

Once your map is created, we can also have them made into Totes that serve as fabulous favors, coasters, wine labels, or blown up into frameable prints or even original watercolors that are also frame-able. The sky is really the limit in respect to these little works of art! I hope you'll take the time to check them out on my website, and thanks again A Savvy Event for allowing me to be a part of your gorgeous blog!

Thank you so much Laura for guest blogging with us today! Laura has worked with many of our clients and her maps are truly a work of art and are unique! It is a great way to personalize your wedding and add that extra little touch!

Thank you again!!!

A Savvy Event loves Tulla Belles new website Tulla-Ido.

Cindy Folak is the visionary behind TullaBelles and Tulla-Ido. Her effervescent personality and love of shopping combined with her innate sense for discovering all that is unique and fun in gift-giving makes TullaBelles the ultimate shopping experience! Cindy’s career actually began in sales as one of the first women sales reps for the top grocery manufacturer in the United States. So Cindy understands the balancing act women perform every day managing a career, a home and most importantly a family! And she grew up in a family where giving is considered true art. “Christmas and birthdays are always celebrated with just the right and unique gift for each person…I love giving gifts!!” Cindy’s passion led to the creation of TullaBelles. “I wanted to provide a convenient way for people to find the ideal gift, at the right price, perfectly wrapped!” As a result TullaBelles provides not only an exceptional shopping experience, but it’s convenient and complete: from the variety of items to choose from to the price point to the distinguishing gift wrap!

With this love of all things Gifts...came Tulla-Ido and site geared toward the Savvy Bride. Cindy Launched Tulla-Ido in September 2008 and it has been a huge success. Cindy actually created all the Swag Bags for the ENGAGE08 seminar just a few weeks ago in Orlando, Florida. Tulla-Ido is the perfect spot for the Savvy Bride to find all her bridesmaid gifts, groomsmen gifts and things for her new nest! It is a great site and we recommend you run not walk on over as you will love it just as much as we do.

Cindy has graciously offered two GIVEAWAYS

DIY Thursday

Thursday is DIY day at A Savvy Event
and today we are featuring a new blog!

We are excited to announce a new DIY Invitations website for brides looking to create their wedding invitations on their own. CardgirlDIY is a terrific resource site created by Cardgirl Invitations to assist the large numbers to brides interested in creating their own wedding stationery. There was no "one" place to go to find practical information about where to buy paper, what size the cards should be or how to best print them. Although it was started with brides in mind, Cardgirl DIY has turned into an everyone site. It's even a good quick reference for those with their own invitation or printing business!
In celebration of CardgirlDIY & a general love of letterpress, Cardgirl Invitations is offering 10% off all letterpress orders placed before the end of November. This includes holiday cards, birth announcements, stationery & wedding invitations. Nessa is truly a leader in the letterpress stationery world, and we look forward to reading more of her tips and ideas for creating fabulous invitations!

So if you are a bride that likes to be "crafty" and put your "personal" touch on things please head on over to Cardgirl DIY Blog

Please Stay Tuned as we will have some fabulous tips from Nessa on DIY projects coming up in the coming weeks!!!

The wedding was magical and it was so "Emarie" .
The wedding took place in her home town of Winters, California.
The setting....A walnut orchard. It was absolutely amazing.
Every single detail was played out and done so eloquently.
The ceremony took place on a beautifully manicured lawn surrounded by the walnut orchard and fruit trees. There were 300+ guest present but felt so intimate.
After the ceremony guest were invited to a poolside cocktail hour. The setting was just magnificent. The gorgeous white farmhouse with the wrap around porch was simply charming.
Guest enjoyed tray passed hors d'oeuvres as well as signature cocktails and wines from the central coast where the groom grew up.
After cocktail hour the guest were escorted into the walnut orchard lined with twinkle lights through out the trees and and gorgeous  white tables with beautiful floral centerpieces.
The food was spectacular and was catered by Emarie's family business the Buckhorn Restaurant and Catering. The guests danced the night away to the sounds of  Cold Shot.
